In my (albeit short) time as an entrepreneur, I found that the subject matter of this 3rd post of 6 myth buster vids is a topic that is one of the biggest reasons network marketing gets a bad rap.

Marketing is something EVERYONE does, but not everyone gets paid for it. And it’s usually because people don’t understand it, and/or have negative and usually misguided impressions about it. So here’s to breaking those walls!

Myth #3:

Network (Affiliate) Marketing Uses People

This thought process shows that you assume anyone who is in business is just out to squeeze money out of you. Yes, there are unscrupulous people out there who see you as only a dollar sign ($) but more often than not, you will only see successful network marketers who focus on helping their TEAM achieve their individual (and this group) goals.

This argument is most often used by people who are afraid of (or don’t understand) what you’re doing. They have an idea that anyone trying to sell them something is just trying to scam them. Perhaps they’ve been burned before. Perhaps you’ve given them the impression that what you’re doing is nefarious.

Do not take it to heart. Continue to work on yourself and don’t push it. Remember – if you’re passionate about what you’re doing and your heart is in the right place, they’ll figure it out in time.

It’s something EVERYONE does, but not everyone gets paid for it. And it’s usually because people don’t understand it, and have negative and usually misguided impressions about it. So here’s to breaking those walls!

Myth #1:

Network (Affiliate) Marketing is an ILLEGAL Pyramid Scheme

An illegal pyramid scheme is a fraud based on recruiting an increasing number of investors. It provides no products/goods or services, and pays according to the number of recruits. It is often confused with NETWORK MARKETING or any company that is MLM (Multi-Level Marketing). Be sure to do proper research before joining one of these companies, as there ARE unscrupulous people out there.

This argument is most often used by people who are afraid of (or don’t understand) what you’re doing. When they use this objection, this “test” obviously cannot determine legality as most businesses and organizations (including the government) have the same structure.

Myth #2:

Only the Guy at the Top Makes All the Money

This statement accurately describes any J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) in the world! The difference between a job and having a position in a Network / Affiliate Marketing company is that you have the ABILITY to make more money than the people above you — it’s based on the joint effort of you and your team, as well as several other factors.

Income is related to EFFORT not position!

Our bodies are amazing machines. And just like any technology, if not properly taken care of it will break down and stop working as designed. Here’s what I mean:

Recharge Your Batteries
Just like any technological device, our bodies need our “batteries” charged. This means we need our sleep.

Studies have shown that when we don’t get enough sleep (about 7-8 hours) we suffer for it. This might be cause for:
- a lack of energy
- being sleepy or tired during the day
- lack of focus
- gaining weight
- mood swings
- falling asleep at the wheel (it’s more dangerous to be behind the wheel and sleep deprived than if you were drunk)
It is IMPERATIVE that we get enough rest. During this time, our brains sort through all of the information for the day, help us process things we might not be able to while awake, and also allows our body to heal and regenerate. (Yes, I said regenerate.) Sleep is truly a wonderful thing, as it:
- contributes to a healthy immune system
- can balance appetites (helps regulate certain hormones which play a role in our feelings of hunger / fulness)
- grows & repairs tissue
- helps retain information when learning something new
It’s absolutely amazing what our bodies do for us when we charge our batteries properly. Be sure to check out either the Harvard’s site Benefits of Sleep or even the Sleep Foundation’s What Happens When You Sleep pages for more information.

Keep Clean
Like electronic devices, if we don’t keep our bodies clean then a lot of issues will happen. Now, we can’t avoid water or dust, and neither will hurt us, but if we don’t keep clean there are many consequences.
- No shower? – body odor, chance of infection increases, you’ll itch more
- Don’t brush or floss? – gingivitis, loss of teeth, bad breath, etc
So be sure to stay clean! Otherwise you will start to decay … Really!
Eat right & Hydrate
Now, I wasn’t really sure how to tie this one in with electronics, since TECHNICALLY this would fall under recharging your batteries (putting fuel in), however I felt this topic needed a section of it’s own.

When you eat junk food, not only are you giving your body CRAP that may be difficult to utilize efficiently, but you are also making it harder to quit! Check out the Huffington Post’s article on What Happens to Your Brain When You Eat Junk Food (And Why We Crave It).

When you don’t hydrate, you’re not allowing your body to have what it needs to run efficiently. It’s kind of like putting oil in your car or ensuring there’s enough air flow for your computer. You need water, and lots of it, to be healthy. Here’s why:
- when we’re born, our body is about 75% water, but by a certain age we begin to lost the ability to retain water (so we need more of it)
- our cells use water to communicate with each other
- reduces stress on kidney functions
- eases constipation
- has been seen to ease chronic pain
- NOTHING can replace it (coffee is a diuretic, sodas contain a bunch of crap, etc)
- as we age, we lose the ability to detect thirst
Be sure to check out HowStuffWorks pages for how water affects your body, such as The Benefits of Drinking Water as well as How to Moisturize From the Inside Out for more information on why it is imperative that you stay hydrated.

A lot of people don’t realize how dehydrated they are. A good rule of thumb is take your weight in pounds, multiply by .75 and that is about the number of ounces a day you should be drinking in water. (This is basically 75% of your body weight in ounces.) Now, you can get water from the foods you eat, but it’s better to just carry around a bottle of water.

I even found out about an app you can use on your phone that not only reminds you to drink water, but you can also see your progress on how much water you drink on a daily, weekly, and annual basis.

4 Money Beliefs That Stop You From Having Prosperity

You give up your financial power! It may be easier, but you give up your power. It is symptomatic of feeling that we are not enough to be able to achieve financial freedom on our own … that it’s too scary, I’m not smart enough, whatever. We wait and never turn on to our full potential!
“I’m not good with money.”

We’ve all learned the skills we have, so to have this belief is only holding you back. Our beliefs influence (or become) our actions (we act in accordance to what our beliefs are) … And our actions create our results. So when you think “I’m not good with money” you are right off the bat setting yourself up for failure…

Because you have this thought, you will avoid taking steps to secure your financial freedom. So you should take really small actions to build your confidence (utilize my free tool, daily check your bank account balance & give gratitude to all the things in your life that make you feel you’re in abundance) …

Paying attention pays off! You will train your brain to associate money with feeling good.

People with money are greedy / It’s not spiritual to have money

When we have a judgement of someone for having something (like money) you are making an assumption & chances are pretty good they worked hard to achieve that goal & they deserve it because of the time and effort they put in. So when you have this negative mentality, you are stopping yourself form achieving the same outcome because you’re judging other people form having it … So why would your brain want that? Why would you want to be that “evil” or “greedy” or “dishonest” person?

Money is a stand in for what we value. So if someone wants something that you offer & they value it according to the amount that it costs? That is an exchange of value for value. So when you add value to someone else’s life, that IS a spiritual act.

“I see that you have a need, and I have something that can fill that need for you.”

Start viewing the world as, “Where can I add value? How can I add value to someone’s life?”

You will begin rewiring your brain and you will learn & understand that you will become more prosperous to the degree of which you provide value to others.
“I’m not ___ enough.”

Smart, talented, didn’t come from right background … Whatever it is, it is immediately taking you out of the game. Any time you don’t value yourself, even when you’re providing tremendous value … When you don’t see your own worth you WILL NOT receive the appropriate exchange for that.

Journal at least 21 days and write in 3 things you value about yourself or ways you added value to someone else’s life. By doing this, you’re building that muscle and training yourself to notice
(a) ways we are valuable
(b) ways we’ve added value to others’ lives

When you do this, you will begin to see more opportunities to provide more value … It will makes you a better business person and human.

These opportunities could be simply be smiling at someone, making a phone call just to let them know you were thinking about them … Doesn’t have to be business.

My passion in life is to help everyone I can, and the biggest thing most people feel they need help with is managing money. This tool is more of a day-to-day tool you can use. Not only is it FREE (they get paid if you use financial institutions on the site, but you’re not obligated to) … but you can kind of look at it like a game.

You’ll put in your information, and the site will give you a score based on how well you act with your financial choices & managing your money. It will also show you how to raise your number, with a perfect score goal of 1,000!

Downsides:
1) You really need to use this tool daily and be sure to input the information so you can actually see how you’re doing.
2) FlexScore doesn’t offer a human adviser to help you reach your goals.
3) No household score, so if you live with someone, are married or have a partner, you’ll each need to have your own.

Guide Financial

From what I read in the article, this tool sounds pretty handy. It’s expected to give you step-by-step advice on such things as how to save money refinancing your mortgage, find the highest-yielding savings account, choose a retirement plan & more! It will also allow you to search and find if you’ve spent more in one category this month than previously done so you can curb your spending as needed.

You will need to pay for this service, but it’s not a lot.

You also will not be provided with actual investment advice, but this tool will help you visually see where you’re putting your money and help manage a little better.

Future Advisor

This one is a DIY online investing tool. You’ll provide answers to a questionnaire that the site will use, coupled with your current holdings, and will tell you what to buy, sell, or hold. Periodically, it will suggest ways to rebalance your portfolio … all of which with the intended result of a highly diversified portfolio with the right asset allocation for you, but without the high cost or low/poor performing ETFs and funds that most investors don’t realize are really just wasting their money.

While this service is NOT free, for the benefits you get the price is phenomenal! ($9 a month for a portfolio under $50k)

With the paid services, you’ll get all of the above, and they’ll also take your existing investments & make the minimum adjustments to get the portfolio you should have.

The premium service ($19 a month) also provides you with automatic tax-loss harvesting! What that means is that they will sell your losses to offset your taxable gains.

Financial Guard

This tool is also something you would pay monthly for ($15.95 a month or $149.95 a month) — however what this tool will do for you is it will grade your funds and ETFs on an A-F grade scale. This grading system is based on performance and fees. It will then tell you which ones you should keep, and suggest which ones to buy so your portfolio will get an A.

There are some other pretty nifty perks — be sure to check out their site if this sounds of interest to you.

Possible Issues:
1) From the article I found, this is an algorithm-based system and may or may not be a wise way to go with your investments.
2) The suggestions are not really comprehensive in analysis for your personal, current situation beyond what you input into the questionnaire.

I really like the idea behind these tools, and at this point in time I’m simply providing information. I have not yet used these tools myself (except the one I created and shared first).

I’ll be honest – I would definitely get Tony’s new book. It’s the most comprehensive piece of information that allows “the 98%” access to information and services that the top 1% of the 1% used to be the only ones who knew about it.
