Next Post: Merry Christmas! And Remember This …
In my (albeit short) time as an entrepreneur, I found that the subject matter of this 6th (and final) installment of 6 myth buster vids is a topic that can unsettle those who don’t understand it!
Marketing is something EVERYONE does, but not everyone gets paid for it. And it’s usually because people don’t understand it, and/or have negative and usually misguided impressions about it. So here’s to breaking those walls!

Please note that there ARE SOME differences between network marketing & affiliate marketing, which I’ll get in to in a different post.

Myth #7:
Network Marketing is a Cult
Some definitions of a cult are:
- of or pertaining to a small group of devotees
- an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers
We’ve all been introduced to the cult mentality at some point.Whether it is the unwavering love of our college alma matter (Rah Rah TCU!), our favorite football or sports team (Go Cowboys!), our love of cult classics like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Star Trek and Star Wars … So why is it that network marketing “cultists” get such a bad rap?
Perhaps it can easily be explained with Albert Einstein’s quote:
Often times, those who seem the most fanatical are the newbies. The ones who love what they’ve decided to start doing but don’t have the training or knowledge to explain why they’re so excited. And when they try to? They turn off their friends and family because they try to explain something that, truly, requires people to see it to really get it.
However what’s wonderful about LEGAL network marketing is that they are required BY LAW to provide facts and figures about their business to ensure that when people decide to start their own independent branch of the business that they understand what they’re getting in to.
Cult followings can be powerful! People want to follow people who know where they’re going and who are passionate about what they’re doing. Regardless of whatever it is! People want to be lead toward something better. And, unfortunately, most people these days are unhappy in at least one area of their life. So when they’re introduced to something with the potential to change it all? It’s pretty tempting. But to those loving cultists who can’t explain it and just try to get people to check it out? It can be difficult for both the cultist and the ignorant to truly understand each other.
So I urge you — keep an open mind in all things! If your friend word vomits on you about something that pricks your curiosity or even makes you feel apprehension? Check it out anyway. Get all the facts before writing something off. Chances are your friend is just so excited about showing you something they absolutely love … And just shared it with you the “wrong way” as it were.

It’s obvious that Affiliate & Network Marketing works! You just have to DO the work to get the payout. (And it can be BIG!) If my small, 6 part series hasn’t show you that much, then network marketing is definitely NOT for you.
But if this has helped you in some way understand these types of businesses better … If you’ve been subjected to this kind of logic about network marketing / affiliate marketing and would like additional information on how to handle these kinds of objections?
