Gary Vee is one of the (in my opinion)
best online marketing coaches around.
He tells you how it is, no holds barred,
and doesn’t sugar coat it.
So when I saw he did a video on
social media marketing strategies for musicians
I just had to take a gander to see how
I can incorporate that into my
online marketing coaching business.
See, I have several friends who are musicians,
yet when I’ve approached them about utilizing
platforms like Facebook to build their brand
and increase their following?
The general response is:
“You can’t do it that way.”
“You have to know someone to make it big.”
And that’s simply just not true.
As I mentioned in my video,
and as Gary confirms in his own below,
you need to do 3 main things:
#1: Create Content
Just like any successful marketer (or musician)
you have to create content. Now, that may
seem like a “duh” statement, however
some people are afraid to do videos
or to put themselves out there.
But if you don’t put yourself out there,
how do you expect to be successful?
Which brings me to point 2 …
#2: Distribute
You have to get yourself noticed.
How?
By sharing that content you just created!
You need to determine who your target
audience is (their likes, their dislikes,
what they look like in your mind,
how they live, where they go to) …
You need to create what
(in the online marketing world)
is called your target avatar (or audience).
From there, you can easily determine
where you need to be sharing your content.
If you simply share it anywhere and everywhere,
not only are you wasting YOUR time,
but you are also being spammy – which can
get you potentially banned from the social media
platform of your choice.
Now, as per Gary you should look into:
Sound Cloud
Snap Chat (Android or iPhone)
Instagram
Vine
One platform he didn’t suggest was
YouTube and Facebook, but these are
just as viable of an avenue as the others.
Once you leverage your content, there are
limitless ways to monetize what you’ve shared.
Now – you’ve created content, you’ve
shared it in all the right places …
Now what?
#3: Cultivate Your Following
You have to make yourself noticed.
But you also have to give love to those
who are creating engagement on your posts
and showing your band some love.
Successful bands and musicians are successful
because they have a good following.
They grow and cultivate their community.
So while creating and distributing your content,
you must also care for your audience and engage with them.
